UN conference approves ten-year plan to help impoverished countries overcome poverty

The Fourth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries ended in Istanbul, Türkiye, on May 13. The conference adopted the Istanbul Declaration and the Istanbul Action Plan aimed at supporting the 48 least developed countries worldwide to lift themselves out of poverty, which will provide a blueprint for helping the world lift the least developed countries out of poverty in the next decade. The attending representatives emphasized that trade and investment are key to achieving sustainable economic growth and poverty reduction, and that governments and private sectors of all countries should play a significant role in this regard.
